Download or watch this programme online to get an overview of main news items that surrounded education in 2007. It's good to keep in touch with changes in school procedure, particularly if you spend a lot of time in school, and therefore require an understanding of current policy.
The video outlines a few developments in teaching and learning, discusses new projects that aimed to re-engage dissaffected pupils in learning, the new diplomas that are beginning this September for 14-19s, and a discussion about the new departments in government concerning schools.
It also mentions the new school leaving age, that will be introduced gradually, so that in 6 years time, students will be required to stay in school until 17, and then two years after that, until age 18. This older school leaving age was originally discussed in the 1940s.
