Lent - count your blessings

Christian Aid helps us focus during Lent on the blessings in our lives, and the things we have that others in the world don't have. They have two ways of accessing the material - either a downloadable PDF that can be printed out or an app on your smartphone (either for android or iPhone, tablet etc). There are three downloads, one for children, one for teens and one for adults. They provide a short thought for each day and a challenge to set aside some money (e.g. 10p for each electrical item in a room that uses energy) that can be donated at the end of Lent.

The smartphone app is visually appealing with stunning photographs for each day of lent and a thought to accompany the picture. The themes this resource covers include the following:

Food and Water
Young minds
Raising your voice
Safety and Peace

So, let's count our blessings this Lent and encourage the students we work with in schools to do the same. It doesn't have to be about raising money - but to think about the things we can be grateful for is a brilliant rhythm to get into.
