I know we have previously discussed blob diagrams on the blog, however I was with some schools workers the other day who were saying how effective this tool had been in their work with young people recently. It also reminded me of this photo I'd taken a few months ago when wandering through Hanover Square in central london...

I'm not sure of the artist who created this tree or what the message was of it, but it reminded me of the Blob tree...Pip Wilson's fantastic creation. These diagrams can be used with young people to talk about where they see themselves and what that means in their situations.

In my work with a few of the girls at my school at the moment we're finding pictures and images a very powerful way of engaging with themes in their lives and being able to describe struggles and potential ways out of them. It amazes me the depth that they are able to describe when using a picture...it seems to unlock something that using words alone just can't get near.
