Body ...and Soul

I really wanted to share about a club we've run in the past called Body and Soul, it looks at just that! Body is all about nutrition - it's amazing how little our kids know about what they should eat in the course of a day - and we had great fun tasting foods. It broke my heart when one of them said they hadn't ever tasted grapes and they loved them, it made me realise how much I take for granted! We also looked at exercise, giving them a chance to try things they might not do in school like cheer-leading and aqua aerobics. Plus fashion, body image and the messages you give by what you wear.
For soul we talk about the likes of Psalm 139 and what it might mean to have been created, how our characters and passions make us who we are and what we have to offer the world simply by being ourselves.
It's really important that it's not about diet and size but healthy living and the idea of 'small change, big difference' and each time it was great to see how the young people grew in confidence and in what they saw as possible for their lives. There was also some funding out there for healthy living projects last year, so it may be worth investigating if you fancy giving it ago or are already running something similar.
