Mission Impossible

After an Easter presentation for year 7 became a bit of a self fulfilling prophesy this week, it's left me me wondering if perhaps there's a lesson to learn about naming our assemblies, or maybe thinking twice about which topical hook we hang them on!

Come together!

It's amazing what healing and wholeness can be found over a hot chocolate in Starbucks! A quick catch up with an ex-colleague reminded me how crucial it is to be in contact with fellow youthworkers, wherever we are on the journey.

Upon looking up impossible feats (for easter- Luke 18v27) I found a video clip you may have seen before but I think it could work really well.

As we all know this is a huge issue for young people, especially for the girls. Working with girls in school I hear lots of stories and situations where girls have stopped eating, feel ashamed of how they look and would do anything to change places with others. It would be really helpful to hear what work is going on in schools with girls, and boys, who struggle with these concerns.

Sitting across from a year 10 girl recently in a one to one mentoring session, I was praying for the gift of interpretation as she was divulging feelings based on her experiences but using language that was almost foreign to me! We all know the words young people use change frequently but in some cases it's almost ridiculous!

I'm helping with an ASDAN class (see here for info on Asdan). Recently behaviour has got worse and my role has turned more into a TA (teaching assistant), the young people aren't my biggest fans any ideas of what I can do?

A few months ago I put a blog entry up about using sports in schools in building relationships with young people and promoting team work/self esteem/healthy living. I haven't heard from anyone and wondered if anyone has any thoughts about this.image

I'm planning a session at my youth group with the title 'Being a Christian in School'. If anyone has any ideas about how to run this or where I might find some resources, I'd be grateful to hear from you.

Experiences of God

We're looking for a video clip of a person talking about an experience of meeting God, something not cheesy, not using Christianese but describing a spiritual encounter with God. Anything out there? Any one know?
