Singing in schools
Hi Guys!
I am new to this site and hoping to establish contacts with others in schools work who are involved in music and, specifically, singing.
I am about to begin a large scale singing project in the south of Ireland. It’s not a Christian centered project as it will include children of all faiths, but it is community centered. We’re intending to help develop a greater sense of confidence and joy in life for some kids who have a pretty tough time.
Does anyone have any experience in this area? I’m particularly interested in making contact with anyone who might combine music with storytelling and composition.

I have some colleagues who are into music and might be able to offer some input..suggestions..connections. I’ll e-mail them if they haven’t yet seen this (they may already have?) and see what happens.
Also I did come across something recently which if I find I’ll post hear about a group coming into a school for a week..making a cd and selling it to the parents of the pupils. Don’t know much more but it might be worthwile you being aware of this.

Another thought i had was FISCHY music who do songs for PHSE type input - fab songs and well used and liked

hi kathleen,
it sounds like a fab project. i have been a singing coach in the past and worked with some young people on a connexions uk project a couple years ago. if you have any questions about basic warm ups or technique workshops i have some tried and tested methods.
secondly i’m a theatre and performance graduate and did several modules in storytelling and if you can give me a context i’ll trawl through my notes and resources!
