New to the site?
First, some explanation about how membership works on schoolswork.co.uk.
If you’re not a member, you can’t create a new post on the blog, but you can comment on an existing posting. However, your comment will need to be approved by one of the editors at schoolswork.co.uk before it shows up on the site. This can take anywhere between a few minutes to a few hours (or days if we’re really busy!). We do this to prevent inappropriate or offensive material being posted.
If you register as a member, you can comment on existing posts and create your own new posts, but they will need to be approved in the same way.
Members can be upgraded to authors at any time. Authors can post immediately on the site without waiting for approval. We are happy to upgrade members to authors if you’ve posted a couple of times or if you or your organisation are known to us. We hope you understand the need to have some restrictions to safeguard the site in this way.
This site will be updated regularly, with helpful resources and ideas, as well as links and events that are coming up. It would really help us if you could be our eyes and ears where you are and let us know of things we should know about.
We’d also love to see this being a place where you can connect with other schools workers near you that you didn’t even know were there before! Coming soon will be a locator map showing areas where our different members are based. If you haven’t registered yet, please click on the little glowing orange word in the top right hand corner of the page and introduce yourself to us!

I’m new to this blogging and look forward to finding out more about it! I am particularly interested in school assemblies. I am a Methodist Local Preacher, but take school assemblies from time to time in our local C of E Primary School. Anyone who has experience in this field I would love to hear from you. I think this new iniative is an excellent idea - I hope it gets all the support and use it deserves. God bless.
Great innovation. Look forward to sharing school assembly expereinces. Some of the challenges Christian fellowship planters in schools face is religious differences in schools. How can one overcome this?
I think working with young people from different faiths is such a vital thing for us all to think about. Whether that be mentoring a young person, teaching an RE class or taking a school assembly. We are always going to come across those with differing beliefs, and one way to look at it and the starting point for me, is to always see these young people as inidividuals, as unique creations. I think it’s so easy to label a young person, and if we are able to see alongside the hajib, the headscarves, the WWJD bands, we begin to see the whole person. In a classroom or assembly hall, the next step is to ask ‘how can I best communicate my message in a way that opens their minds and hearts without blocking anyone out’. I’ve found that using a thought with a story, and then some very open questions about their beliefs and values helps them to respond to the assembly/lesson without driving a wedge that may cause offence. Young people/children from any background need to know they are accepted and this is where we must start from. It excites me that we can just love young people for who they are, and be interested in their faith, and allow them to share that with us without fear of judgment. Let’s encourage young people to talk about their faith experiences.
Please see Smeee’s blog entry on working with other faiths. He points us to some great resources that are definitely worth checking out.
Thanks for all the hard work in setting the website up!
Looks fantastic, really helpful! Thanks!
Just thought i would say Amy and the gang at schoolswork.co.uk are doing a great job with schoolswork and just want to say congratulations on the dream start!
I’m amazed by the work you have done, it is helping me a lot with my new business.
Schoolswork.co.uk has and will continue to make massive impact in many schools and companies. Congratulations Guys.
I am Teaching Studies of Religion. I am keen to gain fresh ideas for the senior school. Some of your topics look very interesting so I am interested in exploring your website some more.
I wondered whether any of your infant or primary school teachers would be interested in a great new resource for assemblies, etc. I’ve written a new book called Heaven’s Humpties, where I have taken 46 traditional nursery rhymes and, retaining the same scansion, rhyming and rhythm, I have adapted them for Christian teaching. There is also a double CD where I have recited all the rhymes on one CD and, on the other, half of them are sung by (with others) John Perry, who used to sing with the Beatles and with Cliff Richard. Many teachers and young people’s workers have told me they are uniquely useful! They are also great fun, and appreciated by primary school children, older children and adults alike. Find out more on my website http://www.whole-in-one.org.uk.
I phoned Premier Radio and was told about this website by the Editor of YouthWork Magazine. I am really looking forward to using some of the material in my work and just want to say a big well done and thank you to all who make this site a possibility every single day. God really is so so creative, isn’t He? Thank you once again.
Thanks Kemi, hope you find useful things here and we look forward to hearing about the work you are doing in schools. God bless, Amy

Hi guys,
I’ve been on here a while and I’ve just tried to leave a comment on the blood sweat & t-shirts blog & it’s not letting me saying I’m not authorised to do this. Any ideas why it won’t let me?
