Children and Bereavement

Thursday 20th Mar, 2008 in: Primary by Ruthie

Radio 4 have a children’s programme called Go4it that is broadcast I think on a Sunday early evening. A couple of weeks ago the programme was on children and bereavement. It was so popular and got such great feedback that they have put it on thier website as a download (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/gfi/bestbits/bereavement.shtml). It has been very well made, contains some children who talk about thier experiences of bereavement, as well as Michael Rosen talking about his son dying. If you are prone to a tear or two I recomend you keep a tissue to hand as you listen. If you go onto the Go4it website there are also some useful books to use with children who are facing bereavement, and the ‘memory hands’ activity looks useful too.
