Wow, this sounds like an amazing resource.  I wonder how it would work as part of schoolswork.  Ideally, I can see watching a film together as a springboard for discussing issues pertinent in a christian worldview.  However, I question whether the FilmClub would be entirely happy about setting up a film club with this focus.
Any thoughts?  Has anyone out there approached schools about it?

Hi Kathleen

Found the other thing I mentioned that you may want to check out if suitable. See below and more detail on their website.

Hi Kathleen

I have some colleagues who are into music and might be able to offer some input..suggestions..connections. I’ll e-mail them if they haven’t yet seen this (they may already have?) and see what happens.

Also I did come across something recently which if I find I’ll post hear about a group coming into a school for a week..making a cd and selling it to the parents of the pupils. Don’t know much more but it might be worthwile you being aware of this.

Go for it and have a great summer

I’ve just done yr 8’s end of year assembly. i was asked to do about Aiming Higher which was a bit odd cos usually we do about removing reputations you have given yourself (or been given) but we fitted it all round anyway!

i did a story in my assembly today - woop! was good remembered my positioning and breathing and all that- was first one back and tomorrows sports day and soon its the end of the term but actually they all really engaged which was great! - made me laugh though at the beggining it seemed like they were gonna be like we were when we pretended to be ungrateful yr 11’s! lol

I did a yr 6 leavers talk at the end of their leavers assembly, so it was very short. It was based around the Exodus. I took in a suitcase, my laptop bag and a small rucksack. I talked about what each was used for and then talked about the kinds of bags the Israelites took. Not a suitcase as good would provide for their needs so they didn’t need to take lots. Not a work bag as they were going to a new place where their work would be different, but a small rucksack so they could travel light, and just take the things they need. I then encouraged the pupils that when they pack their bag for secondary school in Sept. they could remember the bags I brought and remember that like the Israelites going to a new strange land, the Bible says God will be with them.

Cheers Mish,
You did brilliantly in the assembly session! Good to have you along on the day.

Hello the schoolswork team!
A belated THANK YOU for the most excellent ‘Story-telling’ day you held at the LICC recently.
Probably one of the best Christian training days that I have ever attended. I have been inspired to live my life telling stories. Be the story-teller that our Lord creates us each to be: For His Kingdom and His Glory.
Keep up the brilliant work.

i was thinking. is it because of our consumer worldview that we act this way. if our worldview was based on God’s justice and love for the poor, maybe we would be more moved. “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind”

i though the c4 stuff on this was excellent. basically the guy interviewed said

“ forget amnesty, we need to be conivince we don’t need knives”

these are the reasons they gave for needing knives

Safety- you carry you are safe
Belonging- you are part of a gang you belong
Significance- self worth by being in a gang

interestingly these are the three core values, Neil Anderson outlines in the Freedom in Christ material, that we miss when not in a relatioship with GOd

When asked whether he was afraid to die he said
“nah, i don’t want to die, but i’m not afraid of it”

Teen speak

Wednesday 20th Feb, 2008 in: Primary, Secondary, 16+ by Amy Stock

Sitting across from a year 10 girl recently in a one to one mentoring session, I was praying for the gift of interpretation as she was divulging feelings based on her experiences but using language that was almost foreign to me! We all know the words young people use change frequently but in some cases it’s almost ridiculous!
